Ventilation fans for Oman projects — supplied factory-direct to Sohar, Salalah and Muscat.
Oman runs on a 240V/50Hz grid and spans coastal humidity in Muscat and Salalah to hot inland conditions. Under Oman Vision 2040, logistics and industrial development around Sohar and Duqm is driving steady demand for ventilation. BAER supplies fans factory-direct with documentation support for Gulf conformity.
Oman is a steady, relationship-driven market. Demand concentrates on residential and hospitality extraction along the coast, plus industrial and logistics ventilation in the Sohar and Duqm free zones and Salalah port developments.
| City / region | Role | Typical project type |
|---|---|---|
| Muscat | Capital | Commercial, residential, hospitality |
| Sohar | Northern port & free zone | Industrial, logistics, manufacturing |
| Salalah | Southern port | Logistics, residential, hospitality |
| Duqm | Special economic zone | Industrial, port development |
| Nizwa / Sur | Inland / coastal | Residential, municipal |
Routing and specification both follow the geography. Muscat carries most residential and commercial volume; Sohar is the industrial and port-led north; Salalah serves Dhofar and is the one destination where the khareef humidity changes the specification; and Duqm is special-economic-zone industrial work still ramping up. Interior Nizwa orders are dry-heat and dust-driven. Name the governorate on your inquiry and we will match the finish accordingly.
| Model series | Best for | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| 6-inch axial exhaust fan | Bathroom / kitchen wall extraction | High airflow, low profile |
| Inline mixed-flow duct fan | Ducted runs, long distances | Holds airflow under static pressure |
| Silent bathroom fan | Bedrooms, quiet living spaces | Low-noise series |
| Window exhaust fan | Rooms without ceiling duct | Fits standard window openings |
| Ceiling-mount exhaust fan | Ceiling ducts, commercial | Ducted ceiling installation |
| Silent cabinet fan | Enclosed, noise-sensitive | Cabinet / ducted install |
Oman's market access for electrical goods runs through the Directorate General for Standards and Metrology (DGSM), part of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. Two things apply to a fan shipment, and it is worth keeping them separate.
| Requirement | What it means for your order |
|---|---|
| G-Mark (GSO) | The Gulf-wide conformity mark. Household fans sit explicitly inside the G-Mark scope, based on the GSO adoption of IEC 60335-1 and 60335-2-80, registered through the GSO GCTS platform. This is the primary route for exhaust fans into Oman. |
| Omani Conformity Scheme | Established in 2022 under Ministerial Decree 190/2021 and being phased in by product category. Current mandatory type-examination stages cover dishwashers, 10–25 kg washing machines, vacuum cleaners and (from February 2026) water dispensers. Fans are not in a mandatory type-examination stage — but they remain in G-Mark scope, so confirm current status with your importer. |
| Technical basis | Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances BD14200401, covering both safety and EMC. |
| Oman national differences | Test reports must cover 240V / 50Hz and the Omani plug type. A CB report is the preferred basis, but it has to include those differences — a generic 230V report will not carry through. |
| Report validity | Testing must have been completed within three years of the application date. |
| Certificate validity | One year, with approved products registered in the DGSM online database. |
| Local importer | The importer of record must be an Omani-registered company, and Arabic-language product information is required. |
The practical route for fans: hold a valid G-Mark built on a CB report that already contains the 240V/50Hz Omani differences, and register the product on the DGSM platform through your Omani importer. Manufacturer or authorised representative may file.
Sea freight from Ningbo/Shanghai to Sohar or Salalah ports typically takes 18–25 days. Air freight is 3–5 days for urgent orders. Terms are FOB Ningbo/Shanghai as standard, with CIF or DDP available.
Ports: Sohar serves the northern industrial corridor and Muscat-bound cargo; Salalah is a major transhipment hub and the natural entry point for Dhofar and the south; Duqm is developing for the special economic zone. Port Sultan Qaboos at Muscat has been converted to tourism use, so cargo no longer clears there.
Packing: every unit is individually cartoned with foam protection, palletised, and photographed before loading. For khareef-season deliveries to Dhofar we add moisture protection in the carton, because containers sit in sustained humidity on arrival.
Air freight to Muscat or Salalah runs 3–5 days for samples and urgent orders. Terms are FOB Ningbo/Shanghai as standard, with CIF, CFR and DDP available.
Oman supplies 240V / 50Hz with BS 1363 (Type G) sockets — the same top-of-band voltage as Kuwait and Qatar, and not the 60Hz of Saudi Arabia. Fans for the Sultanate must be nameplated and tested for 240V/50Hz; a report written against generic 230V European conditions will not carry the Omani national difference.
Where Oman differs from its neighbours is in how far the supply has to reach. Distribution runs from dense urban Muscat to isolated industrial sites at Sohar, Duqm and the interior, and voltage drop over long rural feeders is a real consideration. Wide-voltage motors are worth specifying for anything outside the capital region.
Oman is the only Gulf market where a single specification will not cover the whole country, because it has two genuinely different climates.
A fan specified for Muscat will not necessarily survive a khareef season in Salalah. Tell us the governorate, not just the country.
| Item | Standard terms |
|---|---|
| MOQ | 100 pcs per model — mixed models accepted in one container |
| Private-label MOQ | 500 pcs per model for logo printing, custom cartons and barcodes |
| Production lead time | 20–30 days after deposit, depending on motor configuration and quantity |
| Samples | 1–5 pcs air-shipped; sample cost credited against the first production order |
| Container loading | A 20GP holds roughly 2,400–2,800 six-inch window fans, a 40HQ roughly 6,000–6,800. Counts vary with carton design and palletisation — we confirm the exact figure with a loading plan before you book. |
Send us the model list, quantity, destination port and governorate and we will return a factory-direct quotation with the finish and motor specification matched to the site.
240V/50Hz as standard, matching Oman's grid. Other voltages are available on request.
Yes. We provide the technical file and CE/CB test reports your importer needs to complete Gulf conformity assessment.
MOQ is 100 pcs per model (mixed models accepted). Lead time is typically 20–30 days after deposit plus 18–25 days sea transit to Sohar or Salalah.
Not at present — the mandatory type-examination stages of the Omani Conformity Scheme currently cover dishwashers, 10–25 kg washing machines, vacuum cleaners and water dispensers. Fans instead come in through the Gulf G-Mark, which explicitly covers household fans. Because the scheme is phased in by category, have your importer confirm current scope before each programme.
Because of the khareef. From roughly June to September, Dhofar sits under monsoon influence with sustained high humidity, mist and drizzle, while Muscat stays dry and hot. That is a condensation and corrosion problem, not a heat one — sealed bearings, corrosion-protected housings and a cowl that actually sheds water are what make the difference over a khareef season.
