Iraq's two defining ventilation requirements are grid stability and price sensitivity. Mains voltage can swing well outside nominal, which destroys standard motors within a season; and the residential market is dominated by simple, affordable window and wall units that are easy to install and replace. Iraq runs a pre-shipment conformity programme — ICIGI — administered by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) under Law No. 54. Electrical appliances sit inside the controlled list, so a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is required before the goods can clear.

Inspection fees are banded by FOB value — approximately USD 320 for shipments up to USD 80,000 FOB, with a further review charge per container at destination. Testing is additional, and materially cheaper when you already hold a current accredited report: a valid test report under a year old typically cuts both cost and file-review time.
Iraq's public supply is nominally 230V / 50Hz, but the practical reality is wide fluctuation and frequent generator changeover. Mains voltage in many districts swings well outside the tolerance European stock is built for, and during changeover to private or district generators the supply dips hard before it recovers.
That is why we recommend wide-voltage motors — specified across a 180–250V operating band rather than a single nominal voltage — combined with thermal overload protection for Iraqi orders. A fan that merely tolerates 230V will not survive a summer of brownouts; a fan designed for the band will.
Note the labelling trap: the CoC file accepts range marking, but a single 60Hz marking is rejected. If you are buying for Iraq and Saudi in the same season, those are two different nameplates.

There is a check on arrival, and it is the step most first-time exporters miss. Iraqi authorities re-verify the CoC's authenticity, compare the cargo against the documents and inspect condition before issuing release. We prepare the file so it matches the physical shipment exactly — including carton markings and model codes — which is what makes that check pass.
Because the nominal 230V is not what the fan will actually see. Mains voltage swings widely and generator changeovers dip hard. We specify motors across a 180–250V band with thermal overload protection, which is the difference between a fan that survives the cooling season and one that does not.
