The UAE ventilation market rewards quiet operation and installation flexibility. High-rise residential towers use centralised ducted extraction with inline fans in ceiling voids; hotels require low dB ratings in guest bathrooms; and coastal humidity means corrosion resistance matters as much as airflow. Two layers apply to electrical goods entering the UAE. The first is the Gulf G-Mark — the GSO conformity mark that covers household fans across all GCC states. The second is the national ECAS scheme, now administered by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), which absorbed the former ESMA. Regulated electrical appliances need it before they can be imported or sold.

Timeline: budget four to eight weeks from a complete file to an issued certificate, of which MoIAT review is roughly two to four weeks once accredited reports are in hand. The two most common causes of delay are an incomplete technical file and a test report that does not match the exact model and electrical configuration being imported.
The UAE supply is 230V / 50Hz — not the 220V many older specification sheets still quote, and critically not the 60Hz used across the border in Saudi Arabia. Running a 50Hz motor on 60Hz turns it roughly 20% faster than designed, which changes airflow, current draw and motor life. If you buy for both markets, treat them as two separate specifications and say so on the inquiry.
Plug configuration is equally fixed: UAE sockets are BS 1363 (Type G) three-pin rectangular. Fans are supplied with a Type G plug or a permanently fixed lead; loose travel adaptors are not accepted on regulated appliances. Where a unit is hard-wired into a building management system, confirm the isolator and earthing arrangement with your MEP contractor before you order rather than on site.
Three conditions shape UAE specifications, and only the first is obvious.
Fine dust carried on shamal winds loads grilles and impellers between cleaning cycles. Choose models with removable, washable grilles and confirm the maintenance access before the ceiling is closed.

Sea freight: 15–22 days from Ningbo or Shanghai to Jebel Ali — the Gulf's largest container port and the default entry point for most UAE orders — or Khalifa Port for Abu Dhabi consignments. Both handle full-container and LCL.
Air freight: 3–5 days to Dubai International or Al Maktoum for samples and urgent top-up orders; economic only below roughly 300 kg.
Terms: FOB Ningbo/Shanghai as standard, with CIF, CFR and DDP available on request. Every unit is individually cartoned with foam protection, palletised, and photographed before loading.
Clearance: UAE customs is among the fastest in the region — typically one to two days once the ECAS certificate is registered against the importer's licence. Arriving without it is what delays cargo, not the port.

Two things. Fit a backdraft damper on every unit connected to a shared riser — otherwise stack effect drives air backwards through idle fans and you get odour transfer between floors.
